The minor league regular seasons have just a day or two (depending on the team) to go and most of the Jays’ affiliates are limping to the finish line.

 

Buffalo Bisons 2, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 6

 

Scott Copeland struggled through 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and four walks with six strikeouts to take the loss. Ben Rowen threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just a walk while Bobby Korecky allowed another two runs in the eighth. Three Bisons had two hits each: Alex Hassan (2/4), Caleb Gindl (2/4, R) and Jonathan Diaz (2/4, 2B) while International League MVP Matt Hague drove in two runs, going 1/4.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Trenton Thunder 2

 

In Game 1 of their double header, the Fisher Cats lost 2-1, getting only three hits from their recently anemic offense. Dwight Smith, Jr. drove in the only run while Roemon Fields, Jorge Flores and Derrick Chung were each 1/3. Luis Perez went five innings to take the loss, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Wil Browning pitched a perfect sixth with a strikeout.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Trenton Thunder 0

 

Game 2 of the twin bill featured just as much offense from the Fisher Cats — one run on three hits — but the pitching staff was dominant, allowing just one hit for the Thunder. Danny Barnes pitched four no-hit innings, walking only one and striking out five. Dustin Antolin relieved him, allowed one hit and struck out four over two innings while Blake McFarland notched his 16th save with a perfect seventh. Jorge Flores was 1/3 with an RBI and Jack Murphy hit a double.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Clearwater Threshers 6

 

Getting a late promotion as the season winds down, 20-year-old Denis Diaz got the start for the Dunedin Blue Jays and allowed four runs on seven hits over three innings in his first start above the Gulf Coast League level. Griffin Glaude allowed another two runs in two innings while Brady Dragmire pitched two scoreless innings, giving up three hits. Luis Santos finished the game with a scoreless eighth. L.B. Dantzler hit two doubles and drove in the Blue Jays’ only run while Anthony Alford scored that run, going 2/3 with a walk and a stolen base.

Roster Notes: Denis Diaz and Mike Estevez were assigned to the Dunedin Blue Jays from the GCL.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Dayton Dragons 6

 

The Lugnuts dropped the first game of the final series of their season to the Dayton Dragons after Tim Mayza gave up three runs in the seventh inning. Tom Robson started and allowed five hits and one walk in three innings, striking out five. Mayza allowed three runs in 3 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out three while Mark Biggs allowed one unearned run in the eighth. The Lugnuts had just five hits including solo home runs from Richard Urena (his 15th) and D.J. Davis (his seventh). Urena also took a walk. Josh Almonte left the game after injuring himself diving for a fly ball in center field.

Vancouver Canadians 6, Everett AquaSox 0

 

Angel Perdomo allowed just one hit and struck out nine in 5 1/3 innings, headlining the victory for the Vancouver Canadians. Perdomo walked four in his performance but finishes the season with a 2-0 record in Vancouver. Daniel Young provided 1 2/3 innings of two-hit relief and Sean Ratcliffe and Tyler Burden finished the game with one scoreless inning each.

Rodrigo Orozco was 2/3 with a walk, a double, a run and two RBI while J.C. Cardenas was 1/2 with a walk, a sac fly and two RBI.
