Arizona Fall League

The AFL is one of the more prestigious fall leagues that brings together a number of baseball’s top prospects in competition against each other in the beautiful confines of Arizona. This year, the Blue Jays are associated with the Peoria Javelinas and the club sent seven players and all have gotten into action so far.

TJ Zeuch

Jonathan Davis has gotten into three games and is 4/14 (.286) with two walks, a stolen base, three runs and an RBI.

Lourdes Gurriel is making a big impact with a .348 average (8/23) with four doubles and two home runs, giving him 75% of his hits for extra-bases. On the downside, he hasn’t taken a walk yet.

Max Pentecost is 1/12 in the AFL over three games, scoring a run but also striking out seven times without taking a walk.

Righty Andrew Case has gotten into two games and has thrown three innings, allowing just one hit.

Jackson McClelland has just one appearance, allowing a run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in two innings.

Danny Young has made two appearances, giving up six runs on eight hits (including two home runs) in 1 2/3 innings, striking out one.

T.J. Zeuch pitched three perfect innings in his AFL debut, striking out four.

LIDOM (Dominican Winter League)

Richard Urena

The Dominican Winter League is a legendary league that has hosted many Blue Jays stars over the years. This year, Vlad got to make his debut while various other players in the organization joined a number of teams.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made a big impact, celebrating his triple early in his season but is 2/11 (.182) in three games, walking twice (including an intentional walk) but he’s only struck out once.

Teoscar Hernandez is 4/14 (.286) in three games, hitting a triple, driving in two runs and taking a walk.

Jason Leblebijian has gotten into one game, going 1/5 with an RBI and a run.

Reese McGuire has gotten into two games, and is 2/5 with two strikeouts.

Richard Urena is 1/5 with a run and four strikeouts in one game.

Lefty Jose Fernandez tossed 1/3 of an inning with out any problems so far.

Luis Santos, who closed the year in Toronto, has a clean inning under his belt with two strikeouts.

LVBP (Venezuelan Winter League)

Kender Villegas

Like the Dominican Winter League, the Venezuelan league has a long history although it will likely not be the place many American players go to get winter reps in due to complicated security issues there.

Adonys Cardona allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings over three games so far.

Nicolas Medina, 17, has already thrown in three games for the Tigres de Aragua and hasn’t given up a hit, just walking one and striking out in two innings.

Kender Villegas has allowed six runs (five earned) for a 10.38 ERA in 4 1/3 innings in three games.
