It’s week two of Winter Ball leagues and so far, we have the Dominican and Venezuelan Leagues to follow: the Australian League beings play on October 28.

Sean Nolin is, of course, the biggest name that the Blue Jays have playing winter ball and he made his second start of the season on Friday for Leones del Escogido. This time out, he showed better control, not walking anyone over his four innings and striking out five, but he gave up two runs on four hits including a home run.

Mickey Storey threw two innings and didn’t give up a hit or a walk and struck out two batters. Joel Carreno has been added to the Escogido roster and gave up one unearned run on three hits over two and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts.

In six games with Gigantes del Cibao, Moises Sierra had a two-for-three game yesterday that included his second home run of the season and now is hitting .273. Most of his production comes from his two games against Toros del Este in which he has both of his home runs and all six RBI.

Ricardo Nanita, playing for those same Toros del Este, is hitting .304/.370/.348 with seven RBI.

In “Where are they now?” news, catcher Henry Blanco is playing for Bravos de Margarita in the Venzuelan League and has not registered a hit in 12 at bats (but has walked five times). In more “where are they now?” news, Balbino Fuenmayor, last seen with the Lansing Lugnuts and released this season by the Blue Jays, is hitting .294/.333/.647, showing off his prodigious power with a pair of home runs in just 17 at bats with Caribes de Anzoategui in Venezuela.

18-year-old pitcher Jonathan Torres has thrown two and two-thirds innings with just one unearned run allowed. He’s struck out one and walked one and has given up just two hits in that span for Leones del Caracas. Tyson Brummett started a game this week for Tiburones de La Guaira and went four shutout innings with two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
