We’re back with another edition of the Blue Jays from Away News and Notes. We haven’t had time to do much of this but there have been a few moves that warrant our attention.

The fallout from the Chris Colabello suspension continues (to read Emily’s reaction, check out her post) continues as the Blue Jays have called up third baseman Matt Dominguez from Buffalo to take Colabello’s spot on the roster. First Chad Girodo came up to the Blue Jays to help out the beleaguered bullpen and then Drew Hutchison arrived to make a spot start. Now that Hutchison has cleared optional waivers, Dominguez is up and will start tonight at third base.

Dominguez is off to a good start with the Buffalo Bisons this year, hitting .311/.333/475 with a pair of home runs and four doubles in 66 plate appearances. In the majors, Dominguez has historically struck out a lot and had falling on-base numbers after a solid audition in 2012 for the Astros, where he hit .284/.310/.477 in 113 plate appearances. He played every day for the Astros in 2013 and 2014 but hasn’t been in the majors since.

There may be some movement on the contract extension talks for Edwin Encarncion, reports Bill Baer of NBC Sports. While Edwin stated that he wouldn’t talk extension after spring training ended, Baer is writing that the two sides might talk at the All-Star break but doesn’t think that Edwin will “forego free agency.”

Another report, coming from Bryan Mcwilliam at The Score, is that the Blue Jays offered a two-year deal with a vesting option for a third year while also being willing to offer a three-year deal to Jose Bautista.

Finally, in minor league moves, the Blue Jays placed Shane Dawson on the DL, retroactive to April 24 while demoting Casey Lawrence back to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Taking Lawrence’s spot in Buffalo will likely be Drew Hutchison.
