Minor League Roster Shuffling

The last couple of days have seen some small, yet noteworthy roster shuffling throughout the Jays minor league system.  To read more about the individual players, click the name to go to his Baseball Reference page.

Working from the top down, the Blue Jays put Adam Lind on the Paternity List and called up RHP Brad Lincoln from Buffalo to take his roster spot.

In Buffalo, relief pitcher Clint Everts was activated from the DL while starter Miguel Batista was placed on the 7-day DL with a bruised shin.  Batista had two poor starts, but was very good his last time out for Buffalo.

dwight-smith-jrIn New Hampshire, RHP Fernando Hernandez was placed on the 7-day DL and LHP Evan Crawford was promoted from Dunedin.

In Dunedin, Jeremy Jeffress was assigned, taking Crawford’s roster spot while SS Jason Leblebijian was assigned to Dunedin from extended spring training.  Leblebijian was drafted in the 25th round last June and played mostly in Vancouver, but did get a taste of A-ball with some time in Lansing.  He is in the Dunedin starting lineup tonight.  Departing from Dunedin is C Aaron Munoz who goes down to Lansing.  Another pitching move was made, as SP Efrain Nieves was placed on the disabled list and reliever Tyler Ybarra was activated.

In Lansing, there was a flurry of moves.  The first, forced by an injury to C Santiago Nessy involved placing him on the 7-day DL, with Munoz taking his place.  Yesterday, SS Shane Opitz was activated from the DL and 1B Balbino Fuenmayor was placed on the DL in his place.  Finally, OF Ronnie Melendez was put on the DL with 2011 1st rounder Dwight Smith Jr. getting the assignment from extended spring training.  Smith played in Bluefield and Vancouver last year and didn’t hit particularly well at either stop.  He is not in the starting lineup tonight while Munoz and Opitz are.
