Buffalo Bisons 3, Louisville Bats 2

The Buffalo Bisons staged an eighth-inning comeback to overtake the Louisville Bats and hang on to a 3-2 win on Sunday. With Matt Hague and Chris Colabello on base, Brad Glenn hit a triple scoring two and came in himself on an error, giving the Bisons the lead. Bo Schultz worked his way out of trouble in the top of the ninth to earn the save. Randy Wolf made the start and appears to be working his way back into mid-season form, throwing six innings, allowing one unearned run on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Todd Redmond worked 1 1/3 innings, allowing the other run while Steve Delabar picked up the win, stranding two runners and working out of Redmond’s jam.

Brad Glenn had a pair of hits including his triple and had the Bisons’ only two RBI for the game. Dalton Pompey was 0/3 with a walk in his return to Buffalo while A.J. Jimenez and Ryan Schimpf were both 1/3 (with Schimpf taking a walk).

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 12, Binghamton Mets 11

In a wild and crazy game that took 11 innings to resolve the New Hampshire Fisher Cats rallied for four runs over the last two innings to tie the game and scored five times in the 11th and managed to hold off the Binghamton Mets in the bottom half for the victory. Mike Lee got the start for the Fisher Cats but only lasted four-plus innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks. Greg Burke followed with two scoreless innings before Tiago Da Silva made his Double-A debut, allowing two runs on three hits (including a home run) over two innings. Blake McFarland earned the win with two perfect innings and Cory Burns allowed four runs in the 11th but managed to close the door there to seal the win.

Jon Berti led the 18-hit attack with four of his own including two RBI while Jorge Flores (3/5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB) and K.C. Hobson (3/6, 2 R) also had multi-hit games. Matt Newman was 1/3 but walked three times and hit his fourth home run of the season, driving a pair and scoring three times while Jack Murphy had a big blast in the top of the 11th with a three-run home run and also driving in a fourth run earlier in the game.

Dunedin Blue Jays 8, Clearwater Threshers 0

Jayson Aquino
Jayson Aquino

Jayson Aquino set the tone for the Dunedin Blue Jays’ pitching with a six-inning, five-hit, one-walk outing while Brady Dragmire (2 IP, 2 H) and Chad Girodo (1 IP) helped finish off the shutout of the Clearwater Threshers. All three pitchers induced a ton of ground balls with Aquino racking up 12 ground outs while Girodo and Dragmire only gave up one fly out each.

The offense only had eight hits but maximized their results, getting a three-run home run from Derrick Loveless who went 1/3 with a walk. Roemon Fields was 3/5 with a stolen base (his 11th) and two runs.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Bowling Green Hot Rods 6

Rowdy Tellez

The Bowling Green Hot Rods scored five runs in the seventh with home runs off of Conner Greene and Andrew Case to spoil a solid offensive outing from the Lansing Lugnuts in a 6-5 loss (for the ‘Nuts). Greene had his longest outing of the season, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on just four hits and two walks but those hits included a home run by Jace Conrad. Andrew Case came in with the lead and earned a blown save after giving another home run, this time to catcher Mac James before finishing off the game with 2 2/3 innings of three-hit, one-run ball with two strikeouts.

The offense was pretty solid and featured a two-run home run by Rowdy Tellez who was 2/3 with a walk and three RBI. Richard Urena (2/5) and Jonathan Davis (2/5) also had multi-hit games while Tim Locastro was 1/3 and, you guessed it, hit by a pitch.

Player of the Game: Rowdy Tellez
