May 26 Minor League Report/May 27 Preview

There were a lot of roster moves at the top of the Jays’ minor league organizations while the big league club kept on winning, beating up on the Tampa Bay Rays.

 

 

Buffalo Bisons 6, Indianapolis Indians 2

 

The Buffalo Bisons helped give Deck McGuire his first Triple-A win after a solid start by the 24-year-old righty. McGuire threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts before Esmil Rogers and Bobby Korecky took over for the remainder of the game. Brad Glenn and Matt Tuiasosopo led 17-hit attack with four hits each. Glenn was a home run short of a cycle and took a walk while Tuiasosopo had two doubles. Dan Johnson went 3/5 with a home run, A.J. Jimenez, recently promoted, went 2/5 and Darin Mastroianni went 2/6. Jared Goedert added his sixth home run of the year.

Roster Moves: Jack Murphy was demoted to New Hampshire while Jimenez was promoted to Buffalo.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Portland Sea Dogs 6

 

Another day, another loss for the Fisher Cats, who only had six hits against Sea Dogs pitching. Andy Burns hit a solo home run while Pierce Rankin had a pair of hits. Scott Copeland allowed five runs on 11 hits over seven innings and Austin Bibens-Dirkx allowed an unearned run in two innings.

Roster Moves: A.J. moves up to Buffalo and Jack Murphy returns to New Hampshire. IF Jorge Flores was promoted to New Hampshire along with closer Arik Sikula, both coming from High-A Dunedin while Tony Davis goes down to Dunedin.

Dunedin Blue Jays – Scheduled Off Day

Roster Moves: Flores and Sikula move up to New Hampshire and Davis comes down. IF Kellen Sweeney was activated from the Temporarily Inactive List.

 

Lansing Lugnuts 2, South Bend Silver Hawks 9

 

While starter Chase De Jong wasn’t bad, the bullpen faltered for Lansing, resulting in the loss after the Silver Hawks pitching kept the Lansing offense at bay. De Jong went 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks including a solo home run to Daniel Palka. Alonzo Gonzalez was tagged for five runs in 2 1/3 innings but had a solid 4-1 strikeout to walk ratio. The offense got two-hit days from D.J. Davis (2/5, caught stealing for the 10th time this season), Dawel Lugo (2/4) and Mitch Nay (2/4, 3B, RBI).

May 27 Preview

 

Buffalo Bisons (26-21)

 

The Bisons send Ricky Romero to the mound today to face Jeff Locke for the Indians. This game is on MiLB TV at 7:05 PM.

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (17-33)

 

The Fisher Cats head out on the road to Binghamton to play the Mets at 6:35 PM. Matt Boyd tries to build on his last successful start against Reading (6 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K) this time around. He faces Matthew Bowman who has a 4.46 ERA in 38 1/3 innings for Binghamton with 14 walks and 35 strikeouts.

 

Dunedin Blue Jays (35-15)

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays face the Charlotte Stone Crabs for the first time this year with Daniel Norris (3-0, 0.80 ERA) on the mound against an undetermined starter. Norris has been awesome this year and is looking to keep up his streak of outings allowing one earned run or less. This one’s at 6:30 PM.

 

Lansing Lugnuts (24-26)

 

The Lugnuts have a 10:35 AM start against the Silver Hawks and send Shane Dawson (followed by Alberto Tirado) to the mound to face Blake Perry for the Silver Hawks.
