Buffalo Bisons 5, Toledo Mud Hens 8

The Buffalo Bisons had a rare bullpen collapse on Sunday, wasting a very strong start by Felix Doubront who only allowed three hits and two walks while striking out three. Greg Infante thew a scoreless inning but it was the trio of Colt Hynes, Bobby Korecky and Luis Perezwho combined to allow all eight runs in the eighth inning. Hynes pitched to only two batters, allowing a hit and a run and Korecky couldn’t strand them, allowing three hits and a walk with just one out to his credit. Luis Perez came in with two runners on and allowed them both to score despite not being charged with a run of his own.

The offense had a solid game overall with ten hits including three (two singles and a double) for Chris Dickerson. Andy Burns was 2/5 with a double and a home run, driving in four runs while Sean Ochinko was 2/4.

After getting down early, the Dunedin Blue Jays tried to stage a late comeback beginning in the seventh inning but couldn’t get all seven runs needed to tie the score. Despite scoring seven runs, the Lansing pitching staff had a bit of a collapse on Sunday, giving up 12 runs on 20 hits to the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Conner Greene was victiized for five runs (four earned) on nine hits in three innings, despite four strikeouts and only one walk. Starlyn Suriel, relieving him, managed just three innings of his own with six runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Colton Turner allowed a run in two innings on another four hits and Michael Kraft threw a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts.

Richard Urena has been red hot and he was 2/5 with two RBI while Rowdy Tellez, apparently furious that a shortstop held the team lead in home runs, tied Urena with his sixth of the year, going 1/4 with a walk and three RBI, Tim Locastro was 1/2 with two walks and an RBI and Anthony Alford was 1/3 with two walks to push his batting average to .327 and his OBP to a whopping .469.
