A Blue Jays sweep in Boston? The big league club is in first place? Wawaweewa (as Borat would say)! On to the minor league news!

Buffalo Bisons 4, Louisville Bats 2

Kyle Drabek had his best start in a long, long time, going eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Ryan Tepera allowed both Louisville runs on a home run by Ruben Gotay while Bobby Korecky closed it out, earning his fourth save. Ryan Goins had three of the Bisons’ eight hits while Jonathan Diaz hit two triples and Brad Glenn drove in a pair of runs.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Reading Fightin’ Phils 1

The juggernaut called the Dunedin Blue Jays just keeps on rolling, claiming their 33rd victory of the year with a 7-5 win. Starter Kendall Graveman has solid, allowing four runs (three earned) in 5 2/3 innings with just one walk and five strikeouts while Danny Barnes allowed one in 1 1/3 innings. Efrain Nieves threw a clean eighth and Arik Sikula struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth to earn his 14th save. Lansing Lugnuts 1, Fort Wayne 3

Shane Dawson completed the game in piggy-back fashion and threw four scoreless innings with just three hits and one walk against, striking out four.

Buffalo Bisons (24-19)

Shawn Hill
Shawn Hill

The Bisons continue their road trip in Louisville and send new papa Shawn Hill to the hill against Tim Crabbe. Hill is coming off his best start of the year with Buffalo, throwing seven one-run innings on Sunday whereas Crabbe’s last two starts (and four of his last five) have been unmitigated disasters. Catch it a 6:35 on MiLB TV.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (16-30)

Unfortunately, the Fisher Cats are following up their first win in 12 games with a home series against the powerhouse Portland Sea Dogs. Starting at 7:05 PM, tonight’s game features righty Casey Lawrence going for the ‘Cats and Mike Augliera on the hill for the Sea Dogs. Lawrence’s last start had him getting a seven-spot scored on him but has been very good throughout the season while Augliera boasts solid, if not overwhelming number (3-4, 4.01 ERA, 10 BB, 21 K in 51 2/3 IP).

Dunedin Blue Jays (33-13)

The D-Jays send Taylor Cole to the mound for a 6:30 PM start against Fort Myers and an undetermined starter. Cole has been very dominating this season in the Florida State League and is the D-Jays’ leader in innings pitched and strikeouts.

Lansing Lugnuts (23-23)

Matt Dermody
Matt Dermody

The Lugnuts continue their series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps and send will rely on Matt Dermody to get the job done against Erik Cabrera. Dermody is coming off two excellent starts in which he’s allowed just one run in 13 innings with just two walks and eight strikeouts while Cabrera has been very solid, mostly in relief for the TinCaps. Cabrera’s two starts have had mixed results but he hasn’t been particularly bad in either of them. This game goes at 7:05 PM and you can hear Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and Trey Wilson calling the game on on the radio and internet.
