With three games in the Blue Jays’ minor league system, there was just one win, thanks to the Buffalo Bisons while the Lansing Lugnuts had the day off.

Buffalo Bisons 4, Toledo Mud Hens 1

 

The Buffalo Bisons were clicking on all cylinders as they opened their homestand with a 4-1 win against the Toledo Mud Hens. Scott Diamond had the start and stifled the Mud Hens and held them to just one run despite allowing eight hits. He struck out two over 7 1/3 innings, facing Daniel Norris who has struggled this year as he makes his way back from cancer. Ben Rowen and Pat McCoy finished off the eighth inning, stranding two runners left by Diamond while David Aardsma earned his sixth save for a scoreless ninth inning, walking two and striking out one.

Jesus Montero led the offense, going 3/4 with a single, double and a home run, driving in two and scoring two. A.J. Jimenez was 2/3 with a double and a run while Dalton Pompey drove in a run, going 1/4.

Roster Notes: Bobby Korecky was activated off the DL.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 0, Portland Sea Dogs 2

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ bats went silent as they had just three hits against the Portland Sea Dogs in a 2-0 loss. Shane Dawson was solid, throwing 91 pitches and giving up two runs on five hits (including a solo home run) with three walks and seven strikeouts. Brady Dragmire and Danny Barnes each gave up a hit in their inning of relief to complete the game.

Dwight Smith, Jr. and Wilkin Castillo each had a double and Rowdy Tellez was 1/4.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Fort Myers Miracle 5

Brad Allen had his second consecutive rough start and the Blue Jays couldn’t hit Fort Myers’ starter, prospect Kohl Stewart as the Miracle cruised to a 5-2 win over Dunedin. Allen allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings. Chris Rowley managed to keep the bullpen fresh by completing the game over 4 2/3 innings, giving up just four hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

The Blue Jays had just four hits including a two-run home run by Michael De La Cruz while Derrick Loveless walked three times.
