Buffalo Bisons 1, Norfolk Tides 2

All the scoring in the Buffalo Bisons’ 2-1 loss to the Norfolk Tides was done in the second inning and neither team could scratch out a run in the seven following innings. For the Bisons, it was Junior Lake who hit an opposite field solo home run as part of a 2/4 day that also had him hitting a double. A.J. Jimenez had a double and a walk. Incredibly, the Bisons didn’t strike out once but still could only manage seven hits and the one run.

On the mound, Drew Hutchison did enough to win on most days, allowing two unearned runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts but took the loss. Ryan Tepera allowed just one hit over the final two innings, striking out three.

Daniel Schlereth gave up a hit in his inning, Jason Berken threw a perfect eighth and Chris Smith saved his first game of the year giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout in the ninth.

Ian Parmley brought his batting average up to .294 thanks to a 2/2 game that included a walk and a sac bunt. Parmley added two stolen bases, scored a run and drove one in. Wilkin Castillo was 2/4 with a double and Jon Berti walked twice. Roemon Fields was 1/4 with an sacrifice fly and two RBI. Christian Lopes also scored twice, going 1/3 with a double and an RBI.

Alonzo Gonzalez stranded the two runners Greene left behind in the sixth inning but gave up three runs of his own (two earned) on four hits in the seventh. Colton Turner provided two innings of scoreless relief, striking out two to finish the game.

Devon Travis was 1/3 for the Blue Jays, driving in a run and playing second base on his rehab stint. L.B. Dantzler had two hits and a run while Emilio Guerrero was 1/4 with a double and two RBI. Canadian catcher Mike Reeves was 1/3 with an RBI and a walk.
