It was a 1-3 day for the Blue Jays’ farm clubs but there were some great pitching performances in the upper levels to speak of.

Buffalo Bisons 6, Durham Bulls 2

The Buffalo Bisons stretched their win streak to two games (making it now an official “streak”) with a 6-2 victory over the Durham Bulls. Miguel Castro starter and had another mixed outing, allowing an unearned run without allowing a hit but he walked three and struck out three in two-plus innings of work. Todd Redmond had a great follow up with just one run allowed over five innings with three strikeouts. Greg Infante struggled with two walks and a hit while getting just one out and Cole Hynes and Bo Schultz finished up the game.

Matt Hague and Brad Glenn each had a single and a double with Hague driving in a run and Glenn plating two. A.J. Jimenez had a double and a walk while Dalton Pompey was 1/3 with an RBI and a walk.

Player of the Game: Todd Redmond

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, New Britain Rock Cats 2

Matt Boyd had another terrific start for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats but didn’t get a decision as the home team settled for the loss. Boyd allowed just one unearned run on four hits and one walk in five innings with seven strikeouts, but threw 92 pitches in his outing. Scott Barnes allowed the go ahead run over two innings but Blake McFarland struck out four over two innings with just one hit allowed.

Jorge Flores had another two hits to push his batting average to .357 while Matt Newman contributed with a pair of singles.

Roster Note: Reliever John Stilson moves up to the Fisher Cats to continue his rehab.

Jairo Labourt 1
Jairo Labourt

Obviously, the Blue Jays are being careful with Jairo Labourt who has already had a stint on the DL and he made a start today for the Dunedin Blue Jays, throwing just 3 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Scott Silverstein allowed a run on three hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings and Jimmy Cordero took the loss with two runs (one earned) in two innings of work. Chad Girodo finished off the game.

Despite two hits each from Matt Dean, Dawel Lugo, L.B. Dantzler and Mike Reeves, the club couldn’t score more than twice. Lugo and Reeves drove in the runs and Dantzler also took a walk.
