While the Lansing Lugnuts are currently scuffling in fifth place in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League, fans were heartened on Tuesday when it was announced that five Lugnuts earned All-Star selections for the Midwest League All-Star Game on June 21 in Cedar Rapids.

Headlining the group is starter Jon Harris who has had only two rough starts throughout the year, compiling a 2.36 ERA in 42 innings in his first year of full-season baseball after he was the Jays’ first-round draft pick last season. Harris has 39 strikeouts and 17 walks so far this year but has turned things around dramatically from his 2015 season in which he had a rough time in Vancouver.

Joining Harris on the Eastern Division pitching staff are starter Angel Perdomo and reliever Dusty Isaacs. Like Harris (and teammate Sean Reid-Foley, who was not made an All-Star), Perdomo has been dominant, posting a 1.28 ERA and 0.89 WHIP through 49 1/3 innings in the Midwest League. Perdomo, 22, has been in the Jays’ system since making his Dominican Summer League debut in 2012 but his time with the Lugnuts is his first in full-season baseball. Perdomo has been among the league’s best strikeout artists this season, fanning 62 in just 49 1/3 innings.

Isaacs, 24, leads the MWL with 11 saves and is carrying a 1.38 ERA and 0.85 WHIP, walking just four and striking out 35 in 26 innings.

The three pitchers are joined by first baseman Juan Kelly, a 21-year-old Dominican who ranks second in the MWL with 19 doubles already. Kelly also started his career in 2012 but has turned things on this year, hitting .265/.335/.476 in 185 at bats with four home runs and four triples.

Also heading to Cedar Rapids for some All-Star action is 23 year old Andrew Guillotte. The Louisianian is off to a solid start to his second professional season with a .266/.345/.353 slash line, stealing 11 bases and hitting 12 doubles and two home runs.
