It was double trouble for the Blue Jays minor leaguers as both the Buffalo Bisons and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats were swept in double header action. The club did, however, get wins from Lansing and the DSL Blue Jays.

 

Buffalo Bisons 1, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 2

The Buffalo Bisons dropped the opener of their double header with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a 2-1 score. Brett Oberholtzer tossed a solid game, giving up just two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks in six innings, striking out three.

The Bisons had just four hits including one each from Jason Leblebijian (who drove in the club’s only run), Dwight Smith, Jr., Jake Elmore (who also walked) and Christian Lopes.

Roster Notes: Mike Bolsinger was sent outright to the Buffalo Bisons.

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 6

 

In Game 2 of their twin bill, the Buffalo Bisons didn’t fare much better, dropping the second half 6-3 to Lehigh Valley. The offense showed more life, however, getting a double and a home run from Raffy Lopez who drove in all three runs.

Jarrett Grube allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits (including two home runs) and three walks, striking out four in 4 1/3 innings. Leonel Campos finished the fifth, striking out one and Chris Smith allowed another home run for two runs in the sixth.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Erie SeaWolves 3

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats opened their double header with the Erie SeaWolves with a 3-2 loss. Rehabbing Glenn Sparkman got the start and gave up all three runs over 3 2/3 innings, allowing two home runs among four hits and two walks. Justin Shafer had a solid outing, walking two and striking out two over 2 1/3 innings and Josh DeGraaf finished the game with a scoreless seventh.

The batters had just five hits including two from Harold Ramirez.

Roster Notes: Glenn Sparkman was added to the Fisher Cats’ roster for a rehab assignment.

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Erie SeaWolves 5

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were swept in their double header with the Erie SeaWolves, losing 5-1 in the second half. Conner Greene tossed five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Tim Mayza threw the final two, giving up a solo home run as his only blemish, striking out three.

The offense added just four more hits including a double and RBI for Matthew Dean.

Lansing Lugnuts 7, Dayton Dragons 5

 

The Lansing Lugnuts sent Andy Ravel to the hill but it was the bullpen that saved the day for the Lugnuts who got a big day from the offense to beat the Dayton Dragons 7-5. Ravel allowed five runs on 12 hits and two walks in just 4 2/3 innings before Griffin Glaude, Daniel Lietz and Nick Hartman combined for the final 4 1/3 innings of the game. Lietz went the longest, going 2 1/3 innings with a hit and two walks against him.

Four Lugnuts had two hits each including Bo Bichette who drove in two with a double and is now hitting .382. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. drove in one and scored one, hitting a single and a double while J.B. Woodman was 2/4 with a double and a triple, an RBI and a run. Ridge Smith was 2/4 with a double and an RBI.

DSL Blue Jays 5, DSL Giants 4

 

The DSL Blue Jays pulled out their fourth victory in a row, but needed 10 innings to do it, beating the DSL GIants on Wednesday. Starter Rafael Monsion was solid for the Blue Jays, giving up just two walks in 3 2/3 innings while striking out two. Luis Alvarez gave up a run in two innings but struck out four before Adolfo Molina finished the inning. Moises De La Cruz pitched a scoreless seventh and Alexander Molina and Luis Mendoza each allowed a run in 2/3 of an inning with both of them running into trouble with the walk. Yunior Hinojosa allowed an unearned run in 1 2/3 innings to earn the win.

Rafael Lantigua was 2/4 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base while Leonicio Ventura drove in two runs with a double and added a stolen base but was also caught stealing. Hector Guerrero was 1/3 with two walks, an RBI and a run, adding a stolen base.
