While five games were scheduled for the Blue Jays’ minor league clubs, four were completed and all four went down as wins for the Blue Jays as a freshly drafted player (with a famous name) had a banner day in his second professional game.

 

Buffalo Bisons 6, Louisville Bats 3

 

Lefty John Anderson picked up his first win with the Buffalo Bisons, getting plenty of run support and holding the Louisville Bats to three runs in a 6-3 win. Anderson gave up seven hits and two walks over five innings, striking out two. Ben Rowen moved his streak of scoreless outings to 16 (with 22 1/3 innings), walking two and striking out one while Aaron Loup, Bo Schultz and Ryan Tepera each contributed a scoreless frame to round out the win.

Matt Dominguez led the offense with two hits including a grand slam in the third inning, adding a walk while David Adams hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, going 2/3 with a walk and two runs.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Erie SeaWolves 4

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats followed up their one-run, extra-inning win with another one-run win, beating the Erie SeaWolves 5-4 on Tuesday. Christian Lopes was 4/4 with two doubles and Matt Dean was 3/4 with a double and two RBI. Jason Leblebijian was 2/5 with a double, two runs and a stolen base and Dwight Smith adding two singles, two walks and two runs. Rowdy Tellez was 1/2 with a double before coming out of the game in the fourth inning for an undisclosed reason.

Jeremy Gabryszwski earned his fifth win with five innings of three-run ball, allowing five hits and three walks with only one strikeout. Brady Dragmire provided 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing one hit and striking out two before Tim Mayza got out of the seventh inning but allowed a run, walking the first batter in the eighth and giving up a run on a single after a passed ball allowed the leadoff walk to reach second. Chris Smith earned the save, striking out six in two innings of work, stranding a runner and giving up just one hit.

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Brevard County Manatees 0

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays took the second game of their series against the Brevard County Manatees by a 6-0 score behind a gem from starter Conner Greene. Greene took a no-hitter (with just one walk) into the sixth inning but it was broken up by a leadoff double to Dustin Houle. Greene walked the next batter before getting out of the inning. He went on to throw seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. The rest of the night (pitching-wise) belonged to big leaguers as Franklin Morales and Brett Cecil each threw an inning of rehab with Morales walking one and striking out one and Cecil striking out two.

The offense had 13 hits in the win, including a home run from catcher Jorge Saez who was 2/4 with one RBI and a run. Jonathan Davis is red hot, going 3/5 with a double and an RBI while Ryan McBroom was also 3/4 with two doubles and two RBI. Dickie Joe Thon was 2/3 with a run and a stolen base.

Roster Notes: Brett Cecil and Franklin Morales were added to the Dunedin roster for a rehab assignment.

Vancouver Canadians 6, Everett Aquasox 5

 

The Vancouver Canadians eked out a win against the Everett Aquasox after scoring four times in the first inning and adding on single runs later in the game, holding on for dear life for a 6-5 final. Cavan Biggio went 4/4 in the win, hitting two doubles, driving in a run and scoring twice. Yeltsin Gudino was 1/2 with a walk and two RBI (but committed his third and fourth errors of the young season) and D.J. McKnight was on base twice with a single and a walk, scoring once.

Luis Sanchez got the start, allowing three runs over four innings allowing four hits and a walk but striking out four. Daniel Lietz got the win after two innings of one-run ball, giving up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Evan Smith allowed a run on a walk (but no hits) as he left a runner on in 1 1/3 innings for Jackson Lowery who let the runner score but still earned the save, striking out four in 1 2/3 innings, giving up two hits.
