It was an off day for the Blue Jays (and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats) and only the red hot Dunedin Blue Jays managed to pull out a victory.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Syracuse Chiefs 4

The Chiefs rode three home runs off of Kyle Drabek to a 4-2 victory. Otherwise, Drabek was quite good, allowing just six hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings. Raul Valdes and Ryan Rowland-Smith combined for the final three innings of work. The offense was pretty quiet with Munenori Kawasaki being the only player to get more than one hit and he went 2/5 with the team’s only RBI. Jonathan Diaz walked three times, going 0/0 and scoring a run.

Roster Notes: OF Brad Glenn was placed on the DL and OF Brett Carroll was activated. Pitchers Neil Wagner and John Stilson were also added to the DL while Richard Bleier was promoted from New Hampshire. Bobby Korecky and Liam Hendriks were optioned to Buffalo.

Player of the Game: Munenori Kawasaki

New Hampshire Fisher Cats: Scheduled Off Day

Roster Notes: LHP John Anderson was activated off the DL and LHP Richard Bleier was promoted to Buffalo.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Jupiter Hammerheads 3

Daniel Norris had his “worst” start of the season and still was pretty strong, allowing three runs on nine hits (but no walks) with six strikeouts over six innings. Dalton Pompey had another two-hit game, launching his sixth home run of the year (his second from the left side of the plate) while Derrick Chung had another three hits to push his batting average to .338.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Dayton Dragons 10

The Lugnuts got hit hard early with starter Matt Dermody failing to get through four innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks to the Dayton Dragons. Yeyfry Del Rosario threw 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing just one runner on a walk and striking out four of the eight batters he faced. Alonzo Gonzalez had a scoreless inning and Scott Silverstein allowed three runs in his inning. On offense, D.J. Davis had a 3/5 game with a double and an RBI while the catching tandem of Jorge Saez (DHing today) and Santiago Nessy each had a pair of hits. Mitch Nay went 1/2 with a run and a walk.

Player of the Game: D.J. Davis and Yeyfry Del Rosario

DSL Blue Jays 3, DSL Braves 5

In Game 2 of the DSL, the players we’re keeping our eye on were fairly quiet. Bryan Lizardo was 1/4 while Eddy Alcantara and Rodrigo Orozco (both outfielders) had the team’s only extra base hits (doubles). None of the pitchers had dominant outings but 18-year-old Yonardo Herdenez threw two shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk.

June 3 Preview

Buffalo Bisons (27-27)

With a spate of injuries in New Hampshire, their starter hasn’t been announced for their game against the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit’s Triple-A farm club). Lefty Duane Below is throwing for Toledo with a 3.81 ERA and a weak 1.33 K/BB ratio. It’s a 7:05 PM game on MiLB TV.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (21-35)

Aaron Sanchez (1-4, 4.14 ERA) makes tonight’s start for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats as they host the Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and Eduardo Rodriguez, a lefty who’s one of the O’s top pitching prospects. Rodriguez, like Sanchez, has struggled to a 4.73 ERA although his peripheral stats (24 hits, 9 walks and 19 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings) are much better than Sanchez’s. MiLB TV says they have this game at 6:35 PM.

Dunedin Blue Jays (39-17)

The Dunedin Blue Jays are close to clinching their division in the first half of the season and they continue their series against the Jupiter Hammerheads with Kendall Graveman (4-1, 3.31 ERA) on the mound against Josh Hodges, a 6-foot-7 righty with a 7.45 ERA and just 25 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings. This one is another 6:35 PM start.

Lansing Lugnuts (27-30)
