The Blue Jays’ affiliates lost all four games they played on Sunday.

 

Buffalo Bisons 0, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 2

 

The Buffalo Bisons played a tight game with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Sunday, despite fighting through rain, the Bisons lost 2-0 in a rain-shortened match. Glenn Sparkman continued his climb back to the majors, starting for the Bisons and going four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with one strikeout. Chris Smith followed with three innings, allowing three hits but no runs and striking out one in his longest outing of the year.

The Bisons had just one hit off of Caleb Smith, with Ian Parmley getting a single.

Player of the Game: None

Roster Notes: Glenn Sparkman was sent to Buffalo on a rehab assignment. There was a report that the Blue Jays trade Jarrett Grube to Cleveland for cash considerations.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7, Bowie Baysox 13

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were hit hard again by the Bowie Baysox and despite the fact that they were able to score seven times, the Baysox destroyed Fisher Cats pitching to cruise to a 13-7 win. Jonathan Davis led the hit parade with four hits including a double and drove in a run and scored one. Andrew Guillotte was 3/4 with a solo home run and three runs while Alex Monsalve was 2/4 with two RBI and a run. Ryan McBroom also had two hits including a single and a double with an RBI and a run. Derrick Loveless was on base twice with a single and a walk.

Jon Harris got the start and couldn’t get out of the first inning, giving up seven runs on eight hits. Alonzo Gonzalez allowed a solo home run among two hits in 1 1/3 innings while Dusty Isaacs also allowed a solo home run among two hits in two innings, striking out four. Jose Fernandez gave up a home run among four hits, for three runs total in one inning. Andrew Case emerged from the bloodbath unscathed, going two innings and walking one while striking out two. Tim Mayza gave up an unearned run on a hit and a walk in the eighth.

Lansing Lugnuts 10, West Michigan Whitecaps 1

 

The Lansing Lugnuts finished up their first half, dropping another game to the West Michigan Whitecaps by a 10-1 score. The offense went AWOL as the Lugnuts had just three hits all game with singles from Ryan Hissey, Yeltsin Gudino and Nick Sinay. Rodrigo Orozco walked twice and drove in a run.

Osman Gutierrez allowed five runs in his start, giving up six hits and three walks with three strikeouts over five innings. Geno Encina gave up a two-run home run to account for two runs in his inning while Connor Eller and Tayler Saucedo each threw a scoreless frame. Daniel Lietz allowed a three-run home run in the ninth to heap the final three runs on the pile.

Vancouver Canadians 1, Eugene Emeralds 6

 

The Vancouver Canadians had their record evened after a 6-1 loss to the Eugene Emeralds. Wilfri Aleton was hit hard in his first start of the year, Aleton allowed five runs on 11 hits (including a home run) over 4 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out two. Orlando Pascual gave up another run over 1 1/3 innings after stranding a runner in the fifth. Jared Carkuff finished the game, allowing just a hit over two innings, striking out a pair.

The Canadians had just three hits including a solo home run from Bryan Lizardo who was 1/4.
