The Blue Jays’ minor leaguers won five of their seven games and scored more than six runs in each of the wins.

 

Buffalo Bisons 6, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5

 

The Buffalo Bisons rebounded from a tough loss on Wednesday to beat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday, thanks in large part to the contribution of Darrell Ceciliani. Ceciliani went deep twice with two home runs to drive in three runs in total (adding a sacrifice fly). Matt Dominguez (2/5, 2B, R), Jesus Montero (2/5, RBI), Melky Mesa (2/4, 2 2B, RBI), Wilkin Castillo (2/4, R) and David Adams (2/4, 2B) also contributed with two-hit games.

Chris Leroux was the starter and it wasn’t one of his better ones as he allowed four runs on seven hits (including a home run) with four strikeouts and a walk over six innings. Danny Barnes allowed the RailRiders’ fifth run over two innings on one hit and a walk while Ryan Tepera notched his 12th save with a perfect ninth, striking out two.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 0, Portland Sea Dogs 11

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats took a beating on Thursday, losing to the Portland Sea Dogs 7-0. Conner Greene started and gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts over 4 1/ 3innings. Murphy Smith finished the fifth inning but was tagged for five runs of his own (one earned) on three hits and a walk. Brady Dragmire settled things down a bit, allowing a run on three hits in two innings while Matt Dermody (1 IP, 2 K), and Chris Smith (1 IP, 1 K) finished the game.

Rowdy Tellez was 3/4 while Derrick Loveless was 2/4 with a double, accounting for five of the Fisher Cats’ seven hits.

Dunedin Blue Jays 10, Clearwater Threshers 3

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays continued their strong second half, taking a 1/2 game lead on the Daytona Tortugas by beating the Clearwater Threshers 10-3 on Thursday. Chris Rowley was on the mound and had another solid start, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings with three strikeouts. Jose Fernandez allowed a run on two walks but no hits over 2 1/3 innings with three hits and Dusty Isaacs threw 1 2/3 innings without giving up a run (but allowing two hits) with one strikeout to finish the game.

Gunnar Heidt and L.B. Dantzler each had three hits with Heidt going 3/4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and Dantzler going 3/5 with two runs. Richard Urena (2/5), Jonathan Davis (2/5, 2 RBI), Dickie Joe Thon (2/5, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Mike Reeves (2/5, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R) also had two hits each. Andrew Guillotte had a double, a walk, a run and an RBI, and added a stolen base.

Lansing Lugnuts 14, Dayton Dragons 9

 

Can you say “Slugfest”? The Lansing Lugnuts scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take control of the game and defeat the Dayton Dragons 14-9. Angel Perdomo started for Lansing and only went two innings (possibly because of his selection to the MLB Futures Game), allowing two runs on a home run and two walks with three strikeouts. Tom Robson allowed six more runs, giving up six hits and three walks in three innings while Danny Young gave up an unearned run on two hits and Daniel Lietz picked up his fifth win with three one-hit innings, striking out two.

J.C. Cardenas was 3/4 with a double, three RBI and two runs while Ryan Hissey hit his third home run of the year, going 2/5 with two rBI and two runs. Justin Atkinson knocked in three runs, going 2/5 with a run while Connor Panas was 2/5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. John La Prise drove in a run, going 2/3 with a double and three runs while Jake THomas was 2/4 with a walk, a triple and a single, scoring once and driving in one.

Vancouver Canadians, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes

Bluefield Blue Jays 1, Danville Braves 7

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays didn’t have much of an answer to the Danville Braves’ pitching, scattering seven hits and only scoring once. Kalik May (1/4, 2B, RBI) drove in Earl Burl III (2/4, R).

Yennsy Diaz struck out seven in his 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk while Jose Nova gave up four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings. Christian Cox finished the game with 2/3 of an inning.

GCL Blue Jays 7, GCL Yankees East 0

 

The GCL Blue Jays cruised to another comfortable win over the GCL Yankees East Getting excellent pitching, allowing just three hits. Joel Espinal was the starter and won his second game of the year with a six-inning, one-hit performance, striking out five Yankees. Yonardo Herdenez earned his third save with three innings of two-hit ball, striking out one.

Antony Fuentes (2/4, 3B, RBI, R) and Alfredo Bohorquez (2/3, 2B, RBI, R) each had two hits while Joshua Palacios, Norberto Obeso and Bo Bichette each had a double.

DSL Blue Jays 8, DSL White Sox 1

 

The Blue Jays cruised to a win over the DSL White Sox, scoring in six of their eight offensive innings and getting great pitching from starter Alvaro Galindo who moves his record to 6-0. Galindo went six innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits and a walk, striking out four. Emmanuel Reyes went two more innings, giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Jesus Colman finished the game, allowing two hits in his inning.

Aldo Ovando was 4/5 with three doubles, racking up two RBI while Yhordegny Kelly was 3/4 with a single, a double and a home run, adding a walk while driving in two and scoring once. Luis De Los Santos was 2/5 with a triple and a run. Sam Buelens was 0/3 but walked twice, stole two bases and scored twice.
