The Blue Jays kind of pooched one in Tampa Bay, losing 10-3 after Drew Hutchison lost his control, walking three batters in the sixth inning and giving way to J.A. Happ (who was probably just getting some work in before the All-Star Break).

Buffalo Bisons 2, Durham Bulls 7

The Durham Bulls jumped all over P.J. Walters, lighting him up for seven runs on eight hits (including two home runs) in just 4 1/3 innings. Raul Valdes pitched 3 2/3 innings of very good relief, and Mike Zagurski threw a scoreless ninth. Ryan Goins continues to swing a hot bat, going 2/5 with a double but it was Cory Aldridge who had the best day, going 2/3 with a walk and his second Buffalo home run.

Player of the Game: Raul Valdes and Cory Aldridge

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Portland Sea Dogs 5

Mike Crouse went deep for the Fisher Cats but it wasn’t nearly enough as Radhames Liz gave up five runs in the first half of the double header with the Portland Sea Dogs. Crouse was 1/2 and added a walk to his solo blast while Kevin Nolan was 1/3 with a double.

In Game of the double header it was all John Anderson as the lefty had his best outing of the year (and possibly his career), throwing five innings, allowing one hit and one walk and striking out eight. Gregory Infante picked up his 11th save by throwing two perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts. Kevin Nolan had another two hits in the second game, giving him three for the day.

Player of the Game: John Anderson

Dunedin Blue Jays: Game postponed due to rain

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Bowling Green Hot Rods 1

It was a great day for the pitching staff as Chase De Jong went five innings of one-run ball, only giving up a solo home run among four hits and one walk and striking out two. Roberto Espinosa threw two scoreless innings and Scott Silverstein and Phil Kish each threw one inning with Kish picking up his first save of the season. Mitch Nay led the offense, picking up two hits (including a double) as well as two RBI.

Vancouver Canadians 4, Everett AquaSox 11

Although this was a close game for eight innings, the AquaSox broke out in the ninth to score seven runs and the Canadians took their 12th loss of the season. Zak Wasilewski was okay, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks in six innings and Joe Lovecchio only allowed a run on a hit and a walk in two innings of work. It was Mark Biggs who got tagged for six of the AquaSox’ seven runs in the ninth with Tim Mayza allowing all three of his inherited runners to score. Tim Locastro was 2/4 and Chris Carlson was also 2/4 with a double and two RBI. The C’s had a rough day in the field with Franklin Baretto committing his 12th error of the year and Seth Conner and Chris Carlson committing their first. Conner also had two passed balls as the catcher.

Player of the Game: Chris Carlson

Bluefield Blue Jays 4, Princeton Rays 3

It took 12 innings but the Bluefield Blue Jays came out on top in a battle with Princeton. Joey Aquino went five solid innings, allowing only one hit: a solo home run. Conor Fisk threw three innings with one run allowed, Dusty Isaacs allowed a run in two innings and Michael Kraft threw the last two innings, not allowing a runner and striking out three. Richard Urena was the hero, hitting the solo home run in the top of the 12th to win the game and adding a single, going 2/6. Josh Almonte was 3/5 and Trent Miller was 2/5 with a double and an RBI. Rowdy Tellez and Dan Jansen were both 1/5 with a double and an RBI.

Player of the Game: Joey Aquino and Richard Urena

GCL Blue Jays 3, GCL Yankees1 6

The Blue Jays couldn’t come up with a win against the Yankees with Conner Greene throwing three innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits. Angel Perdomo was excellent, picking up for Greene and throwing five innings and giving up just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts. Lane Thomas was 3/5 with a single, double and a triple, driving in a run too while Juan Tejada was 2/5. Max Pentecost is either hot or cold and he was cold today, going 0/3 with a strikeout.

Player of the Game: Angel Perdomo and Lane Thomas

DSL Blue Jays 5, DSL Pirates 8

Some of the pitching was very good for the Blue Jays as Osman Gutierrez went five innings, allowing just two unearned runs. Wilmin Lara allowed five more in just 1/3 of an inning while Wilfri Aleton allowed one unearned run in 2 2/3 innings. The Blue Jays made four errors, accounting for five of the Pirates’ eight runs (at least on the scoresheet). The Jays had 12 hits including three from Rodrigo Orozco (3/4, 2B, 2 R, RBI, BB), two from Miguel Almonte (2/5, 2B, 2 RBI, SB), two from Ronniel Demorizi (2/4, RBI, BB) and two from Enmanuel Moreta (2/5, 2B).

Player of the Game: Rodrigo Orozco
