After getting out to a 5-1 lead by the middle of the fourth inning and letting that lead slip away, the Jays rallied in the ninth to overcome the Tampa Bay Rays with an exciting 8-5 win that saw Dan Johnson put up a line that we’ve seen with Buffalo: 0/0 with four walks and three runs scored.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Durham Bulls 4

The Durham Bulls continued their series and took the second game from the Buffalo Bisons, shutting down their offense and jumping all over Deck McGuire. McGuire walked seven batters but only gave up three runs in 4 1/3 innings, throwing 96 pitches. Austin Bibens-Dirkx gave the club another 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball while Steve Delabar and Ryan Tepera finished the game off. Kevin Pillar and Anthony Gose each had two hits and a stolen base while A.J. Jimenez drove in both of the Bisons’ runs.

Despite an outstanding pitching performance from Kendall Graveman, the D-Jays didn’t get any offense against Brett Lee and the Fort Myers Miracle. Graveman went seven innings and only allowed one run on three hits while striking out five. Justin Jackson took the loss, giving up a run without actually allowing a hit over 1 2/3 innings. Marcus Knecht had two hits including a double to lead the way for the D-Jays who out-hit the Miracle but still lost.

Mickey Storey continues to work his way back from injury and pitched two scoreless innings for the GCL Jays but Jake Brentz was probably the guy that most prospect hounds were looking at. Brentz threw two innings, giving up just one unearned run but he allowed two hits and three walks while striking out three. Max Pentecost added another three hits as he awaits his passport to head to Vancouver. Angel Gomez was 2/4 with a walk and Edwin Fuentes and Deiferson Barreto also had a pair of hits.
