It’s been another week and it’s time to catch up with the Blue Jays farmhands plying their trades in the Caribbean Winter Leagues this off-season.

We’ll start, of course, with the biggest name, Sean Nolin. Nolin got roughed up in his only start this week, going 4 1/3 innings and giving up three runs on five hits and a walk. The good news — there’s only one walk there and he struck out seven batters. So far, for Leones del Escogido Nolin has an ERA of 4.63 in 11 2/3 inning with 13 hits, four walks and 14 strikeouts.

Joel Carreno

Nolin’s Buffalo Bisons teammates Joel Carreno and Mickey Storey have joined him with Escogido. Carreno is firing on all cylinders, with four innings pitched, one unearned run against on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Storey gave up a run this week and now has a (still very good) ERA of 1.69 in 5 1/3 innings with just two hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Moises Sierra

Moises Sierra hasn’t played since October 31 but is now hitting .306/.405/.583 over 36 at bats and has three home runs and a double to go with five walks and eight strikeouts.

Ricardo Nanita

Interestingly, Esmil Rogers is now listed on the Tigres del Licey roster but has yet to pitch in the Dominican League. Ricardo Nanita has slipped, only getting one hit in the last week for Toros del Este and is now hitting .190/239/.214 in 42 at bats.

In the Venezuelan league Jonathan Torres, pitching for Leones del Caracas, is up to four innings of work and has a 4.50 ERA with 3 runs against (two earned), three walks and just two strikeouts. Keep in mind that Torres is only 18 years old playing in a league with major league veterans.

Playing for the Cardinales de Lara, Luis Jimenez is just one for 13 but has taken four walks. Reliever Chad Beck is now listed on the roster for Navegantes del Magallanes but hasn’t pitched yet. Tyson Brummett (last seen in New Hampshire) had another start for Tiburones de La Guaira and gave up two runs on six hits (including a home run) and three walks in five and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Outfielder Brad Glenn has arrived in Venezuela and has joined the Tiburones and is again teammate of Brummett’s. Glenn has appeared in two games, going one for six with a walk and a strikeout.
