The Toronto Blue Jays minor league affiliates swept the day, going 6-0 thanks to some thundering lumber up and down the system.

 

Buffalo Bisons 4, Pawtucket Red Sox 2

 

The Buffalo Bisons won their final game of the season at Coca-Cola Field, coming back to win 4-2 after a three-run rally in the bottom of the eighth. Ryan Borucki didn’t allow a run in his Triple-A debut, going six innings and giving up six hits and a walk with six strikeouts but didn’t get the win. Chris Smith allowed two runs over two innings, blowing the save but came out as the winner after Leonel Campos nailed it down with two strikeouts in the ninth.

Christian Lopes was 1/3 with a home run, walk and stolen base for the Bisons while Roemon Fields was 2/3 with a run and his 40th stolen base with the Bisons. Michael Saunders was 1/4 with an RBI and a run while Shane Opitz wa 1/2 with a double and a walk.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8, Reading Fightin Phils 6

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored eight runs for the third game in a row, defeating the Reading Fightin Phils 8-6. Starter Francisco Rios only went 3 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits (including a home run) and one walk with three strikeouts. Shane Dawson allowed three runs on three hits (including a home run) and two walks in one inning. Justin Shafer allowed the last run for the Fightins in 2 1/3 innings, striking out three and giving up three hits. Dusty Isaacs got his fourth save in Double-A, striking out four in two innings.

Richard Urena (2/5, 2 R, RBI), Emilio Guerrero (2/5, 2B, RBI, R) and Derrick Loveless (2/5, R) had two hits each while Reese McGuire drove in two, going 1/5 with a double. Jonathan Davis was 1/1 with a sacrifice, two walks and a run while Andrew Guillotte was 1/2 with two walks and two runs.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Clearwater Threshers 3

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays got some power from a couple of players with Canadian ties as they defeated the Clearwater Threshers 5-3. Toronto’s own Connor Panas hit two home runs, giving him a club leading 18 on the season and added a walk while Vladimir Guerrero Jr., born in Montreal, was 1/4 with a two-run blast in the ninth, also adding a walk. Bo Bichette was 1/5 with a triple and D.J. Davis was 1/4 with a double and an RBI.

Jordan Romano went 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and Zach Jackson gave up one more run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Kirby Snead allowed two hits in his inning of work and Jackson McClelland pitched a clean ninth for his seventh save.

Lansing Lugnuts 7, Lake County Captains 4

 

The Lansing Lugnuts won their second straight against the Lake County Captains, beating them 7-4. The ball was flying out of the park as David Jacob led the home run brigade, going 3/4 with a walk, a home run, three RBI and a run. Yeltsin Gudino (1/4) and Javier Hernandez (1/4) also went deep for the Lugnuts. Joshua Palacios was 2/5 with a double and two runs while Mitch Nay drove in two, going 1/4.

Yennsy Diaz gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. Yonardo Herdenez stranded a runner and gave up just one hit in 1 1/3 innings, striking out two. Jared Carkuff pitched a clean eighth, striking out one and Miguel Burgos gave up a run in the ninth on two walks and a hit-by-pitch with one strikeout.

Bluefield Blue Jays 12, Johnson City Cardinals 1

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays flexed their muscle, scoring 12 runs in a 12-1 domination of the Johnson City Cardinals. Kevin Smith drove in six runs, going 3/5 with a home run and two runs scored. Brandon Grudzielanek also hit a home run, going 2/3 with two runs. Freddy Rodriguez was 2/4 with an RBI and a run while Chavez Young was 3/5 with a double, an RBI and three runs. Yorman Rodriguez also had three hits, going 3/5 with two doubles and two RBI.

Alvaro Galindo had a strong game, allowing just four hits with three strikeouts over five innings. Jose Nova allowed two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in two innings and Mitch McKown allowed the Cardinals’ only run on three walks in the eighth. Kelyn Jose gave up a hit and a walk but no runs and struck out a batter in the ninth.

GCL Blue Jays 5, GCL Yankees West 4

 

The GCL Blue Jays walked it off against the GCL Tigers West, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 win. D.J. Daniels started the rally with a single and he was followed by Otto Lopez who also singled. A balk advanced both runners a base and Jose Theran was intentionally walked to load the bases. Luis De Los Santos drove in Daniels with a ground out and, after another intentional walk to Davis Schneider, Jonelvy Molina singled to win the game. Molina was 2/5 with two RBI while Lopez was 3/5 with a double and two runs. Daniels was 2/4 with a double and two runs and Theran was 2/4 with a walk and an RBI. Schneider walked three times and Aldo Ovando went 1/3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

On the mound, Joi Concepcion only gave up one hit but walked six batters and was charged with three runs over two-plus innings. Anderson Nunez threw four innings, allowing both inherited runners to score and giving up a run of his own on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Juan Meza struck out three in two perfect innings and Danilo Manzueta got the win, going one inning and giving up two hits with two strikeouts.
