The minor league season is winding down with the DSL year already over. The GCL finished yesterday and this is the last weekend of the regular season unless teams have made the playoffs.
Buffalo Bisons 11, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 3
Thanks to solid work from the pitching staff and an outstanding game for the batters, the Buffalo Bisons were able to keep pace with the Pawtucket Red Sox, just 1.5 games back with four games left. Anthony Gose led the way on offense, driving in six runs with a single, a double, and a home run, adding a stolen base. A.J. Jimenez was 2/5 with a double and a home run, driving in a pair and scoring twice. Dalton Pompey added a single and a double to his Triple-A tally (as well as a walk), scoring three times and driving in two and Dan Johnson also had two hits. Kendall Graveman made the start and allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven. Colt Hynes, Steve Delabar and Mike Zagurski finished the game off.
Roster Notes: Chad Jenkins was promoted the other day and A.J. Jimenez was activated off the DL.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Harrisburg Senators 9
Austin Bibens-Dirkx was roughed up by the Senators, allowing six runs on eight hits over four innings before Justin Jackson gave up another three runs (two earned) over 2 2/3 innings. Melky Mesa looks to finish the year strong with a 3/4 game and Jon Berti, fresh off the announcement that he’ll be heading to the Arizona Fall League, was 2/4 with a walk, a double and his 39th stolen base. Andy Burns (a 2013 AFL alumnus) drove in all three runs with his 15th home run of the season.

Dunedin Blue Jays: Scheduled Off Day
Lansing Lugnuts 9, Dayton Dragons 3
Brent Powers bounced back from a rough start last week to go five solid innings for the Lugnuts, allowing three runs (two earned) over five innings. Newly promoted Chase Wellbrock, who came up all the way from Bluefield, threw three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three. On the offensive side, Matt Dean was 2/4 with two doubles and two runs scored while Justin Atkinson was 3/3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Jason Leblebijian had the game of the day, going 4/5 with two doubles, a run and two RBI. The victory puts the Lugnuts only one game back of Dayton and Fort Wayne for a playoff spot in the Eastern Division.
Roster Notes: Chase Wellbrock was promoted to Lansing while Ian Parmley was moved up to Dunedin to make room on the roster.

Vancouver Canadians 2, Eugene Emeralds 4
Canadian reliever Andrew Case gave up three runs as the Emeralds came back to win the ballgame, dropping the Canadians back into a tie for the North division lead. Case’s outing wasted a strong start from Chase Mallard who went 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. The offense was held quiet with only Richard Urena (2/4, 2B, RBI) and Mike Reeves (2/3, BB) having multiple hits. Franklin Barreto was 2/13 but walked twice and stole two bases.

Bluefield Blue Jays 8, Pulaski Mariners 7
The starting pitching wasn’t great with Francisco Rios allowing four runs on six hits and two walks in just 3 2/3 innings but Conner Greene closed the door, allowing one unearned run over four innings. Lydell Moseby did a lot of damage, going 3/5 with a single, a double, a home run and four RBI while Josh Almonte was 4/4 with an RBI. Aaron Attaway also contributed three hits including a double and Kevin Garcia hit the game winner and was 2/5 with a double.

GCL Blue Jays 2, GCL Yankees1 4
The Blue Jays lost their final game of the season to go down with an 18-41 record in 2014. Sean Reid-Foley had a solid outing, despite allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out six and didn’t walk anyone in three innings. Nick Wells, drafted one spot behind him in 2014, allowed two runs on five hits and a walk in 3 2/3 innings and Francis Eduardo finished off the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Dave Pepe finished the season strongly, going 2/4 and raising his batting average to .304
