Several individual Blue Jays minor leaguers had sensational individual days on Saturday despite winning just three of eight games.

 

Buffalo Bisons 3, Rochester Red Wings 6

 

The Buffalo Bisons (61-72) couldn’t keep their momentum going in a 6-3 loss to the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday. Jason Leblebijian had a monster night, missing a cycle by a home run and going 4/4 with a double and a triple and one run. Michael Saunders also hit a triple, going 1/4 while Teoscar Hernandez was 1/3 with a double and a walk and Dwight Smith Jr. was 1/3 with a walk.

Brett Oberholtzer allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings but still came away with a win. Jeff Beliveau tossed two innings of one-run ball, giving up two hits and Wil Browning finished the game with a perfect ninth, striking out one.

Roster Notes: Luis Santos was placed on the temporarily inactive list.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Hartford Yard Goats 0

 

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats got a stellar performance from Ryan Borucki in a 2-0 shutout over the Hartford Yard Goats. Borucki tossed seven innings of shutout ball, giving up just three hits and striking out seven. Dusty Isaacs and Andrew Case each threw an inning to finish off the game and keep the Yard Goats off the board.

Jonathan Davis drove in both runs, going 1/2 with a double and a sac fly. Gunnar Heidt was 2/3 with a triple and both runs.

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Tampa Yankees 6

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays were bested by the Tampa Yankees after getting out to a 6-3 lead, only to lose 7-6 in the end. Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s stellar outing wasn’t enough for the Blue Jays to overcome the Yankees as he went 3/4 with a double, a home run, a walk and five RBI. Bo Bichette also had a strong game, going 2/3 with a walk, a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Edward Olivares and Jake Thomas each went 1/4 with a walk and a run.

Conor Fisk gave up five runs on six hits, including two home runs, striking out three over 4 1/3 innings. Philip Walby allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over 1 2/3 innings. Zach Jackson (2 IP, 1 BB, 3 K) and Jackson McClelland (1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB) finished the game strongly.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Fort Wayne TinCaps 7

 

The Lansing Lugnuts could only come up with one run in the bottom of the 11th inning, ultimately losing 7-6 to the Fort Wayne TinCaps. “Mash” Knight was in full form as he went 5/6 with a double and two RBI. Kevin Vicuna was 2/6 with a triple, an RBI and two runs and J.B. Woodman was 2/6 with a double while David Jacob was 2/5 with a walk and an RBI.

Yennsy Diaz struck out nine batters over seven innings but gave up four runs on seven hits (including a home run) and a walk. Jake Fishman struck out seven batters over two innings (yes, it’s possible) but also gave up a run on two hits. Jared Carkuff allowed two runs in the 11th but one run was unearned and he pitched a clean 10th before that fateful inning.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Boise Hawks 2

 

The Vancouver Canadians held off the Boise Hawks to win 3-2 on Saturday. Donnie Sellers was the starter, going 2 2/3 innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts before Joe DiBenedetto took over to finish the third inning. Wilfri Aleton came in and picked up his third win, going five innings and giving up just one run on a solo home run among three hits with one walk and five strikeouts. William Ouellette got his 11th save, striking out two in the ninth.

The offense had just seven hits including Riley Adams‘s third home run of the year, giving him a 16-game hit streak. Brandon Polizzi drove in a run, going 1/4 and Mattingly Romanin was 1/1 with a double, a walk, a hit by pitch and a run.

Bluefield Blue Jays 8, Danville Braves 0

 

The Bluefield Blue Jays rolled over the Danville Braves with an 8-0 win on Saturday. Antony Fuentes was 3/4 with a stolen base and a run while Ryan Gold (2/4, RBI, R) and Kevin Smith (2/5, RBI, 2 R, SB) had two hits each. League MVP Ryan Noda was 0/1 but walked four times. Jesus Navarro was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI and Yorman Rodriguez drove in two runs, going 1/5.

Alvaro Galindo was strong, throwing five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Mitch McKown struck out three and gave up one hit in two innings and Connor Law also struck out three, giving up two hits in two innings.

GCL Blue Jays 1, GCL Phillies 5

 

The GCL Blue Jays lost some more ground to the first-place GCL Phillies, losing 5-1 in Clearwater. Starter Justin Watts gave up three of those runs on five hits and a walk in four innings, striking out three and Anderson Nunez gave up the other two runs on two hits in the fifth. Juan Meza, Danilo Manzueta and Emerson Jimenez each threw a scoreless inning with Jimenez striking out a pair.

The Blue Jays had just four hits including a double from Jonelvy Molina. Jose Theran was 1/2 with a walk. D.J. Neal came out of the game after being hit by a pitch in the first inning.

DSL Blue Jays 2, DSL Orioles 3

 

The DSL Blue Jays were beaten by the DSL Orioles by a 3-2 score, playing only one of their two scheduled games with the second one cancelled due to rain, finishing their season in first place in their division. The Blue Jays went easy on their pitchers, getting one scoreless inning from starter Juan Diaz while Yohandy Martir gave up a run on two hits in his inning. Moises De La Cruz gave up a run on two hits and two walks in two innings and Geremy Jimenez allowed a run on two walks in 1 1/3 innings. Jhon Victorino finished the sixth and Nicolas Medina struck out the side in the seventh. Ronald Magdaniel and Luis Mendoza each struck out two in his inning of work.

Hector Guerrero was 3/4 and Rafael Lantigua was 2/2 with a stolen base. Yeison Estevez was 2/4 with a triple and an RBI.
