Well, folks, you’re getting a very abbreviated minor league report today because I’ll be heading out to Michigan to catch the Lansing Lugnuts one last time before the minor league season ends.

 

 

Buffalo Bisons 2, Rochester Red Wings 7

 

Sean Nolin was roughed up for the first time since his return from injury, allowing the Red Wings to score six runs over four innings. Chad Jenkins allowed the seventh run in his first appearance back with the Bisons since his demotion from Toronto. Brett Wallace was the offensive star as he went 3/4 with a solo home run and two RBI.

Roster Move: In a series of roster moves, the Jays sent Anthony Gose back to Buffalo which caused Brad Glenn to head to New Hampshire. Dalton Pompey tweeted that he was being promoted to Buffalo although that move hasn’t been made official yet.

Player of the Game: Brett Wallace

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Trenton Thunder 1

 

A two-run home run from Dalton Pompey was literally all of the offense the Fisher Cats needed thanks to a great pitching performance from Michael Lee who went seven innings, allowing just one run. Pompey had one of the club’s two hits with his third home run in Double-A and tweeted that he was Buffalo bound after the game.

Roster Notes: In sadder news, Mickey Storey was released and Brad Glenn was demoted to NH. Cory Aldridge went on the 7-day DL while Pompey was activated off the DL. Scott Copeland (after winning the International League Pitcher of the Week Award) was also sent back to Double-A.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Lakeland Flying Tigers 12

 

It was pretty ugly for the Blue Jays who made three errors and got hammered by the Flying Tigers. Taylor Cole struck out nine in five innings but allowed five runs (four were earned). Hunter Carnevale was tagged for six runs in just 1/3 of an inning but all but two of those runs were unearned. The club had seven hits in total with two from L.B. Dantzler.

Roster Notes: Aaron Munoz was placed on the 7-day DL and Emilio Guerrero was activated.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, West Michigan Whitecaps 5

 

Thanks to some solid pitching and timely hitting, the Lugnuts beat the Whitecaps. Brad Allen allowed three runs (two earned) over six innings and Roberto Espinosa allowed another two runs over two innings. Both Chaz Frank and Justin Atkinson had three hits each, both had a double and an RBI while Atkinson scored twice. Jason Leblebijian was 2/4 with a double.

Vancouver Canadians 2, Boise Hawks 0

 

Despite being outhit, the Canadians threw a shutout at the Boise Hawks thanks to some stellar work from Jairo Labourt. Labourt went six innings, scattering seven hits but just one walk while striking out nine. Justin Shafer went 1 2/3 innings, striking out three of the six batters he faced and Phil Kish earned his third save since arriving in Vancouver. Franklin Barreto had a pair of hits and an RBI while Boomer Collins went 2/3 with a double.

Bluefield Blue Jays 2, Burlington Royals 3

 

While scoring twice is better than not scoring (as the Blue Jays had done in their previous game), it just wasn’t enough despite some solid pitching. The Blue Jays made four errors in a poor overall game. Jesus Tinoco allowed all three runs over six innings but only two were earned. On offense, Rolando Segovia, a little-used infielder, went 4/4 with an RBI.

GCL Blue Jays 2, GCL Tigers 12

 

It wasn’t a great day for the GCL Blue Jays as the pitching staff got hammered to the tune of 12 runs. No one (of Bobby Wheatley, Joe Claver and Daniel Rodriguez) escaped unscathed. There weren’t any bright spots on offense to talk about either as the club only had two hits.

Player of the Game: None

 

DSL Blue Jays 6, DSL Braves 4

 

Jose Nova gave up three of the club’s four runs but only walked one and struck out five in 4 2/3 innings. Denis Diaz was terrific out of the pen, allowing one run on five hits and no walks in 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. Ronniel Demorizi had two hits including his second home run of the year while Javier Hernandez was 2/3 with a double and two RBI.
