With a Buffalo Bisons double header and New Hampshire Fisher Cats game postponed thanks to poor weather in the north, the Blue Jays minor league affiliates went 1-1 with a win from the Dunedin Blue Jays and a loss from the Lansing Lugnuts.

 

Buffalo Bisons, Norfolk Tides

 

Double header was postponed because of inclement weather.

Roster Notes: Leonel Campos was optioned back to Buffalo as J.P. Howell was activated by the Blue Jays. Infielder Gregorio Petit was placed on the 7-day DL.

 

 

New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Trenton Thunder

 

Game postponed due to inclement weather.

 

Dunedin Blue Jays 10, Charlotte Stone Crabs 3

 

The Dunedin Blue Jays (10-9) got a big blast from Max Pentecost and pounded on the Charlotte Stone Crabs in a 10-3 victory. Pentecost, playing first base, hit a grand slam in the second inning for his fourth of the season. Lane Thomas made a big to hit for a cycle, hitting a single, double and triple in four at bats, driving in a run and scoring twice. Mike Reeves was 2/4 with a double and an RBI, scoring twice. Danny Jansen, playing DH, was 2/5 with an RBI as he continues to swing a hot bat. Cavan Biggio also had two hits, adding a walk and a run.

Angel Perdomo got the start, throwing six strong innings, giving up just one run on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts and getting seven groundouts to just one flyout. Jared Carkuff allowed two runs in the seventh inning while Daniel Young and Tom Robson each threw a scoreless inning to finish off the game and secure the win.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, South Bend Cubs 11

 

The Lansing Lugnuts (10-9) mounted a late charge, getting a three-run home run from Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., but an eight-run lead was too much for even the Sluggin’ Lugs to overcome as they fell 11-6 to the South Bend Cubs on Tuesday. Mike Ellenbest got the start for the Lugnuts and wasn’t able to keep the momentum going from his last start, giving up just two earned runs in six innings. This time, Ellenbest was chased early, giving up five runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Tayler Saucedo was called on to relieve him and the Cubs got to him to, despite Saucedo striking out five batters in three innings. He still allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits including a home run. Kirby Snead was charged with another two runs on a hit and two walks despite striking out another four batters and Zach Jackson, on to relieve Snead, allowed both inherited runners to score. Jackson went back out for the ninth, throwing 1 2/3 innings in total and striking out two.

Guerrero’s ninth-inning, two-run home run capped a 3/4 night for the 18-year-old slugger as he added a walk and two singles to the home run and a stolen base. Jake Thomas also had three hits, going 3/4 with two RBI and a run. Bo Bichette was 2/4 with a double and a walk, driving in one and scoring once. Nash Knight walked twice and stole a base while Ridge Smith, in his first game with the Lugnuts, was 0/3 with two walks.
